LIVING A CO-OP LIFE

Why The Best Prayer Is Active

“I prayed for twenty years,
but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.”
~ Frederick Douglas (escaped slave)

Prayer is not some religious exercise that ignores our own insight while we blindly crutch upon some mysterious power “out there.” Prayer is thoroughly personal and spiritual, a two-way interaction with our Higher Power that draws together all our experience, trust and energy. Instead of passive submission, prayer teaches us that wisdom and strength comes from humility and initiation.

Divinity is waiting on us to appropriate who we are and what we’ve been given into its loving design for our futures. Our prayer-in-action catalyzes the beauty of Divine purpose to spring afresh in our lives. This rich co-op life creates healthy action, where we “Call on God, but row away from the rocks” (an Indian proverb).
