Scenario; A bar of chocolate

A consumer in Nice, France

A retail confectionery shop/chocolatier in Vieux Nice, Nice

A chocolate producer in the Piedmont Region of Italy

Introduction

A fine chocolate producer based outside Turin, Italy has as one of their chocolate products a bar of dark chocolate, that is made from 62% Cocoa bean, where the Cocoa is single sourced and harvested from Cocoa trees from Peru. The Producer purchases the additional ingredients of the chocolate bar of Sugar, Ground Vanilla and Emulsifier from a trade wholesaler in Italy and the ingredient of Soya/Lethicin from a second wholesaler also in Italy.

The chocolate is produced and wrapped at the factory in the Piedmont region by the chocolate producer.

The chocolate is imported into France by a confectionary wholesaler who acts as both importer and distributor for all of the chocolate producer’s products into France, the confectionary shop purchases this chocolate from the importer.

From the consumer perspective

The consumer browses in the shop and chooses a bar of the Italian chocolate producer’s dark chocolate.

They take the chocolate to the boutique which is a standard shop checkout with one manned till.

The consumer scans the QR code from the WTX Hub code card that is at the till of the confectionary shop, the consumer then receives and pays for the chocolate. Then they access their unique WTX Hub account and view the entire provenance details of the chocolate’s journey from the Cocoa Tree growing in Peru via Italy to the cconfectionary shop in Nice and all points in between, calorie count, product information, special offers and much more for the chocolate, they can do on the day or after at their leisure.

The consumer can then put the chocolate on their WTX Hub social profile and/or into their WTX Picture storyline. Also they can add images of the chocolate into this storyline.

From the Industry perspective

The shop assistant at the till in the shop uses the same handheld scanner to scan the barcode for purchase and for the WTX Hub D&R software therefore they initiate use of the WTX Hub hardware and then scan the WTX Hub code card which is at the till either fixed to the till Kevin portable code card form, then they read the code on the bar of chocolate which in this case is the same barcode used for pricing they then close the sequence for the WTX Hub process and send the information to the cloud.

This information is then added to the WTX Hub HH provenance software, all trade participants for the chocolate have access to the HH software. The Targeted Advertising for each trade participant in the chain is then engaged from the Advertising stack they have uploaded to the WTX Hub and in conjunction with the relevant special offers this is then filtered through to the consumer.

The Italian chocolate producer has access to the sales information on the HH system but also the providers for ingredients of the chocolate bar also have access to those details once signed up the WTX Hub system.
