One day I woke up and realized: the Republicans had been promising, “If we cut taxes it will create more jobs with higher pay,” while jobs continued to decrease and pay stagnated or even fell against inflation. When that became clear to me, I grew increasingly cynical when it came to their promises and platforms, and alarmed by the propaganda and what I honestly view as their ultimate goal: reduce revenue to a point where all social safety nets are unfunded, regulatory agencies in equal trouble, and announce the end of all government services except defense, taxation, etc., and the end of minimum wage.
At some point I realized that much of the arguments by the Tea Party and “think tanks” like the Heritage Foundation ultimately led to that outcome (my NWO conspiracy believing husband loves to say I am the conspiracy theorist, and he knows the truth; ironically, everything his alternative websites tell him, etc., dovetails nicely with the goals of ending social investment “for the good of everyone”). When you are worth a couple hundred billion, spending almost $900 million to influence an election to reduce your taxes another ten percent or more is a strategic long-term investment, and ending regulations that require workplace safety, paid overtime, and minimum wage, especially if one ends disability, unemployment, affordable education, etc., creates a working population just desperate to survive, an outcome that further leverages your wealth and power for expedient exploitation.
