Game Format: PvP
Prior to version v0.10 there were three WWZ game formats:
- Free-For-All — each player fields one combatant and every player fends for themself. No limit on number of players.
- Player-vs-Boss — a single player fields a team of up to 4 combatants against a computer-controlled Boss that levels up with each player victory.
- Circuit — each gym is a team. Gyms battle each other until one community is left. Players can choose only one gym to play for per game.
Beginning with v0.10, there is a fourth format:
- PvP — two players assemble a team of up to four combatants in a head-to-head duel. Last team standing wins.
Set up a new PvP match
Anyone can start a new PvP match. Look for a channel in your gym with pvp
in the name.
Community managers: any new channel with
pvp
in its name will default to PvP format. This is useful for quickly opening new channels during busier periods.
Inside a PvP channel, run the menu command:
/wwz menu
To run a Discord command, start typing the command and then select the command from the list of search results appears. Be sure to start the command with a slash character.
Use the New Match
button in the menu that appears.
You should see a new match has been initialized and is now open for players to join.
Your game is ready to go. You can either leave the lobby open and let it fill with the next player(s) looking for a match, or @
mention specific player(s).
Any PvP player can set up a match and wait for or invite an opponent. Alternatively, a (presumably neutral) 3rd party such as a moderator can set up a match and invite two competitors.
Join a PvP match
A player can join a PvP by running /wwz menu
and selecting the Train
button. Alternatively, you can run /wwz train
instead of /wwz menu
.
You can train up to four combatants for a single PvP match. Just repeat the steps above for each.
Start a PvP match
Once both players are finished training, run /wwz menu
again and choose the Start
button.
Optional controls

Players are ranked by the conventional Elo formula. Each player has an overall Elo rating and an Elo rating for each gym in which they’ve played. Check out the PvP Leaderboards for the current rankings.
