How do NFT traits affect combatants?

This article describes application features and behavior as of v0.7.1

Every WWZ combatant has a chance to train (roll) relatively high or low values for each combat stat. However, individual combatants can be more or less likely to train with particular results.

PixZilla Training Biases

The PixZilla collection is unique in WWZ. Training Results for all combatants in WWZ can be affected by underlying NFT traits, but PixZillas include an additional step in training that we call Remixing.

A PixZilla transforms during training visually in a process we call Remixing. The changes also affect combat stats. Base attributes that remain after Remixing (such as the helmet in the example above) contribute to combatant stats.

PixZilla attributes can contribute directly to a combatant’s training results if the Remixing process does not override the attributes in question. Players can use the WWZ build reference guide to review the various effects traits can have on PixZilla training.

Training Biases for All Other Collections

We work with the creators of each WWZ-eligible collection to define archetypes for their collections. Archetypes are special subsets of a collection based on attributes.

An `archetype` is just the name of a group of NFTs and a description of what it takes to be a member.

For example, in an NFT collection about animals, we might define a canine archetype. We might decide any wolf, coyote, dog, etc. belongs to the canine archetype.

An individual combatant can belong to one or more archetypes. For example, a duck combatant might belong to both a flying and swimming archetype.

The archetypes a combatant belongs to can modify the range of values expected for a particular stat.

In the example below, a Tigon NFT with the value robot for the head attribute is more likely to roll higher values for the Armor combat stat (they’re heads are made of metal after all).

The archetypes an NFT belongs to can alter the range and likelihood of values for a particular combat stat

When a combatant belongs to two archetypes who alter a rolling profile in the same way, the effects are combined. The armor stat in the image above in an example.

Biases may vary significantly between archetypes within a collection and between archetypes across collections. For example, Tigons are generally more agile, but FuseWars combatants are generally more accurate (especially our sniper example).

A combatant Training Profile (like the one in the figure above) illustrates how these biases can alter the probability of a particular value, but do not guarantee a particular result.

The cumulative biases make the sniper more likely to roll higher accuracy values than average, however it is still not a guarantee they will roll 100% accuracy for their ACC stat.

Players can use our guide to learn more about reading Training Profiles.
