I Am A Woman Who Lives In Fear Of Being Raped
Shani Jay

I wish you did not have to live in such fear. I’m sorry. It was hearing such similar fears from my sister years ago that sparked the beginning of my own realization that to keep her safe meant keeping all women safe, which would mean no less than transforming the world. I believe it’s possible to address and correct the problems that lead mean to be so callous and predatory. It’s a complicated process, I believe, but it’s possible. It is my life’s work to bring about a future where women can live fearlessly. All women are my sister, all women are my mother, and until they are safe and secure my work is incomplete.
