Atomic Blonde definitely cheated digitally on theirs, but the setups and camerawork are also a lot more dynamic than in The Protector, where it was basically just “follow Tony Jaa around as he does some basic sequences with stuntmen.” The way they keep playing around with the camera’s position, and the location of people around it, is what makes it so good.
Not that I want to rag on The Protector, which is hilarious and excellent and should be required action movie viewing.
