How Renting Can Help You Save Money as a College Student

If there’s ever a time you are as excited as nervous, it’s the first day of college. Excited because mainstream media has hyped college life as the most fun and irreplaceable years of your life.

And nervous because there’s the crushing reality of the colossal amount that needs to be learnt, applied and achieved in the next 3 or 4 years.

Most of all, there’s the joy of finally being independent — more so for the students who move to a different city than their home town.

But with great independence comes great responsibility.

And empty pockets.

As a result, you have to come up with ways to make the most, get the most and use the most out of a very limited budget.

This is where college students adopt renting as a practice — To Save Money.

This is where college students should adopt “renting out” as a practice — To Earn Money.

Rentezee allows you to do both, right from your tiny hostel rooms.

Need to learn guitar lessons? Why buy a guitar when you can rent it for a tenth of its MRP?

Learn the instrument, return it and then buy your own when you are indeed ready to jam.

Benefits — You don’t need to worry if you want to discontinue your lessons, for some reason. You are not stuck with a useless guitar of your own that you spent Rs. 10,000+ on.

If the guitar gets broken, you can always return it and rent a new one. Hey, it’s not your guitar, is it? No need to worry about repairs!

FIFA, Counter Strike and Modern Warfare over the weekend?

If you plan to buy an Xbox on your college student budget, it will take exactly 7 years, 3 months and 22 days until you have saved enough for a Xbox One.

Or you can just go to Rentezee and get an Xbox with the games you want. Have a blast of a weekend, for literally 5% of the MRP.

Hell, we’ll throw in a Foosball table for a little extra rent to complete the gaming experience for you.

And we might bring our own college favourite, a certain Old Monk, for you to enjoy over the weekend.

We are good with gifts and we were in college once too :)

Want to learn photography, but can’t afford a DSLR?

Rent the best DSLR camera and lenses from Rentezee. Share with us your photos when you do click some candid shots. We’ll feel happy that we had a part to play in you learning a new skill.

After all, what’s college for if not to learn new things?

A trip to the snowy Himalayas, but can’t afford camping gear?

Rent the full shebang — sleeping bags, haversacks, tents, walking sticks, selfie sticks, cameras, hiking boots and maybe a Royal Enfield too.

Use all the money you save, by choosing to rent over buying, to have a great travelling experience.

Renting Saves You Money. Glad we got that down.

Then there’s the other side of renting — Earning.

How?

Well, the people you are renting all your guitars, PlayStations, DSLRs and camping gears from — they are earning money from all these props that they weren’t using themselves.

For all you Business and Econ Majors out there, you’ve heard of idle assets, right? Yeah well, with Rentezee, you can earn off them.

Liquidate your assets, as your professors would say.

Save Money by Renting. Earn Money by Renting Out.

So, to everyone starting out college in the next few weeks, we say this –

You were in your parents’ cocoon till now. College will be your first steps into the real world, especially if you are moving out of your parents’ house.

“Real World Sucks. You’re Going to Love It!” — Monica Geller

All the Best!

Cheers,
Team Rentezee
