Studying. . . A student’s worst nightmare.
Like it or not, if you are someone who is in school, you are bound to hit the books for a test or quiz eventually. But simply sitting in you room, carefully tucked into a desk and examining your notes over and over until you get the idea is far from engaging.
Often times, memorizing topics is not the actual challenge. It is executing ideas during a quiz or test that really is. This is because students do not test their knowledge enough. Well, because of the web, there are many websites out there that can help a student in these circumstances. Though effort is still needed, using the tools provided would definitely make studying more engaging, help you understand the material better, and help you execute the appropriate information. An example of this tool would be Quizlet. It is online tool that allows students to test themselves by creating their own guide through different options.
The different options include, multiple-choice questions that are found under the ‘learn’ tab, flashcards, writing definitions or explanations, spelling the words by hearing it, matching, and lastly, a game called gravity. In the game, you are to protect the earth from commits by answering questions in a limited time.
Sounds engaging, right? Well, how exactly does one get started into Quizlet?
1. Sign up!
The sign up option is available at the top right hand page of the page, where you create your account. You will also have the option of using Quizlet for free, or the premium version. In my case, I am using the free version.
2. Create a study set!
After signing up, the next step is to create a study guide.
You will be taken to a page where you can enter definitions and explanations, which looks like the image below.
3. Test yourself!
After you have entered the material you need to study, you have the options of how you want to practice on the top of the screen! In my case, I have created a mini Quizlet to help prepare for the final exam of EID100, a course offered in my university.
Now that you understand how Quizlet works, I hope you use it to test yourself for the next test or exam! Happy studying!
