I started writing at the age of 10-years-old. Back then, I didn’t know any kids who kept journals or liked to write. To most, writing was a chore. Today, I am thrilled to be a part of a thriving community of writers.
Learning to write is sincerely the best thing I’ve done for myself; and I encourage everyone to do so. Get a notebook and have at it. In the beginning, it doesn’t matter what you write, only that you’re writing. With time and practice, you might even want to share your work. Publishing your first piece is exhilarating no matter where you choose to share it.
The joy of writing is that you write for yourself, and you can share it with the world.
I also encourage my children to write. My 5-year-old can’t physically write yet, but that doesn’t stop her. She dictates into her iPad, and it’s the cutest and most amazing thing. All of my kids write, and when I get to read about their world from their perspective it is mind-blowing, and it teaches me so much.
From all of my experiences with writing I’ve learned that you never know what gifts you hold inside until you pick up a pen and write.
Thank you for sharing the joy that is writing and encouraging others to do so.
With love- Rye
