Night Swimming

The air was warm and damp. Everyone was driving to the same place for an after party. To a beach not that far away.

As she looked around for someone familiar to catch a ride with, a car pulled up next to her. Driving was a friend of her sister’s who she had met the night before, briefly. She blushed but took comfort in thinking it wasn't noticeable because of the heat.

He offered her a ride to the beach and she got in gladly. His presence was comforting. She had noticed it already. Somehow, she felt drawn to him.

The car was a small Suzuki four wheel with a sky roof. The rich air poured through it and the open windows, swirled in her hair and over her moist skin. She felt alive. It didn't seem to matter to her where they were going or how long it would take to get there. When they pulled into the parking lot, lit with the yellow light of the street lamps, she felt disappointed they had arrived so soon.

Standing by one of the other cars, music coming from the radio, were a few people chattering, laughing, enjoying themselves. Her younger sister, in the midst of it all, called to her as she got out of the car. Walking away reluctantly, she smiled at her driver. He smiled back and something stirred inside her.

The chatter and laughter, usually very enjoyable, seemed only a distraction to her then. The general conversation didn't interest her. She longed to get to the beach. The sound of the gentle surf on the sand called to her. „Come on, lets go to the beach!” she proposed but got no reaction.

She knew what she wanted and was pretty sure she knew who would join her. The problem was it wouldn't look right. She glanced around, took in a deep breath of that thick fragrant air, and realized she didn’t care.

„Come on, you’ll go with me to the beach, won’t you?!” she said to him enthusiastically as he came over to join the rest. She was trying to hide the flirtiness in her tone. “Sure, alright” he replied as he followed her.

They walked through the mangrove, dark and pungent, leaving the sounds of civilization fading slowly behind them.

The beach was amazing! The salty smell of the water, the soft sand, already cooling but still warm just below the surface form the days heat. And the stars! So, bright and so many, blanketing the sky. Moonlight reflected off the water and lit the night just enough. Her heart was full.

Her companion was obviously glad to be along. He was enjoying her excitement. For him a night walk on the beach was nothing out of the ordinary. For her, it brought back childhood memories and awoke passionate fantasies all at the same time. The sounds and smells of the tropical beach, the feel of the cool refreshing breeze and the unbelievably sparkly sky. These were all things which she loved and cherished since she could remember but had not experienced in much too long.

They strolled down the beach together making small talk. They spoke of nothing she would remember because it was not the conversation but the energy and magnetism between them that meant something.

At the end of the narrow beach, about two hundred yards from where they had come through the grove, was a natural wall of jagged rock that jutted out into the water. As the two stranger’s pace slowed the emotions quickened. The girl had an urge to plunge into the water and without contemplating longer than a moment she looked up at him smiled and said “ Let’s go swimming .” Before he could even start to protest she had pulled off her top and slipped out of her red skirt. He was giggling and saying something about the water being too cold and her being crazy, all of which she payed no mind to as she ran down and dove into the salty water. It was warmer than the air and buoyant, letting her float effortlessly. she called out to him to join her. “Its so warm” she called with a big smile. “you’re crazy!” he said, then threw of his jean shorts shaking his head in disbelief, and ran after her cringing as the water splashed over him.

He swam out to her and told her again how crazy she was. “I got you to come in, didn’t I?” she said teasingly and their eyes connected and could not unlatch. She swirled around him light in the buoyant water and realized she was half naked. He had already grasp that fact and was duly aroused by the situation. The distance between them grew smaller as the aquatic dance continued. Like two magnets they drew closer against their efforts to keep a safe distance. He reached out to her and lifted her body to the surface of the water. She didn’t protest and closed her eyes letting her head tilt back in the warm water while her breasts emerged into the cool air and then sunk slowly back under. He guided her slender white body slowly through the water just under the surface and then let her immerse now very close to him. Her hands settled on his broad, smooth, dark shoulders and the urge to be close was so strong she forced herself to push away smiling with embarrassment because it was so obvious. He understood and said “ you have a husband” “yes” she answered “ I don’t want to make you uncomfortable” he assured her. “ You're not” she replied.
