The technology has indeed opened possibilities to developing new designs and the new feature will prove to be cheaper and more effective. Furthermore, the technology has eliminated the hassles of menial work. Besides, experimenting on physical models of cars and aeroplanes is an expensive affair, the VR technology has indeed eradicated this possibility.

This invention will be beneficial to buyers as well as designers. For instance, home-buyers will be able to take a tour around yet-to-be-built apartments. It will enable them to choose combinations of colours, carpets, kitchen and living room accessories, etc. It will similarly work to a car designer’s advantage.

It is however yet debatable whether the new technology has the high-end advantage it claims. Several industry observers believe “mixed” or “augmented” reality will ultimately reign. Combination of video of the real world with virtual reality images will still remain the preferred choice. More such high-end headsets also require high processing power and a strong connection to powerful computers. So there are shortcomings when customers and designers will want to walk around a big virtual boat, for instance.

The technology will only be feasible when the new VR resolution technology will not require any cables. And this when the high-speed 5G mobile connectivity comes into question. Streaming speeds 10 to 20 times faster than the existing connections, will allow high-resolution images to be beamed to the headsets wirelessly.
