This is what you get when insurance company lobbyists get their bought-and-paid-for representatives to gut our healthcare for their own profits. Learn where to place your blame. Obama isn’t to blame here, and neither are the “liberal snowflakes” who helped him craft the ACA. Getting it passed required making compromises that crippled the whole thing. For many (like my parents), it was a godsend, as they simply could not purchase insurance before. For others, it was a harsh burden, a cost they either couldn’t afford or felt that they didn’t need it. Blame the insurance lobby for that. It was their efforts that ensured that the public option (i.e. Medicare for everyone) was off the table. The insurance companies fear a universal public option because it will spell the end of the vampirism they’ve been perpetrating on the American people for almost half a century now, and pharmaceutical companies, medical device suppliers, and hospitals fear it even more because it will give the government incredible leverage in cutting better deals for the American people. Every other civilized country in the world uses a single-payer system, and they look at us like the complete idiots that we are when they see us scrambling about trying to suck at the poisoned teat that our insurance overlords allow us to survive on. Please sir, may I have some more?
