7 Faults in ‘Bukti 7 Borobudur Peninggalan Nabi Sulaiman’

Many Muslims have tried discover the ‘miracle’ of Islam within Al-Quran since long time ago. Perhaps they have good intention, but sometimes the method or evidences are so wrong and the conclusion made is simply ridiculous. This all end up humiliating the name of Islam instead (Example here). As part of Islam community, we must avoid making such erroneous ‘miraculous’ claims and keep maintaining the reputation of Islam itself.

This article discuss some of the biggest faults in ‘Bukti 7 Borobudur Peninggalan Nabi Sulaiman’ video. This is also part of the argument from book ‘Borobudur & Peninggalan Borobudur’.

1 : The shortest sight is 30 cm.

Claim : “the shortest sight is 30 cm, so before the light moves 60 cm, the temple is already moved 36 km”

1. Our shortest sight is not 30 cm. Just put a finger right in front of your eye, can you still see the finger?
2. In the video, it shows that the light moves 30 cm from eye to the object, and another 30 cm back to the eye, “so before the light moves 60 cm”. This is totally not how our vision work. Based on basic principal of physics, we are taught that light travels from the sun to the object and it’s reflected to our eye. After that the eye process the light in our eye and transfer the information to the brain. It’s not like the light move back and forward which is shown in the video.
3. This claim is used as the primary evidence to support claims for the rest of video. If it’s most foundational evidence is wrong, then we can say the rest of video is simply invalid.

2 : MC^2 = Nuclear BOMB

Claim : “So what this mean? the energy (to move the temple) is 3,6 billion times energy of nuclear bomb with weigh of Arupa Dhatu Temple”

1. On previous slide, the author* calculate the speed of moving the temple, out of nowhere, the result is V=60000*C (60000 times speed of light). The math is wrong and that’s not how you calculate speed.
2. Next, the author confuses between E=MC^2 and MC^2 = energy of a nuclear bomb with weigh of Arupa Dhatu Temple. E=MC^2 is clearly the formula of Mass–energy equivalence, not calculation of energy of an nuclear bomb. The formula talks about the potentially energy which available for conversion to other forms of energy. Indeed there is a connection between the formula and nuclear bomb, but it is subtle, and it’s not as simple as “nuclear explosion is caused by the transformation of matter and energy”.

3 : Negative One Million Celsius

Claim : “If one kilogram of water from 30°C is turned into negative one million Celsius, then it needs energy as much as -4*10⁶ Joule”

1. When water is turned into ice, it release energy, instead of requiring energy. Hence “It needs energy as much as -4*10⁶ Joule” is false.
2. The lowest possible temperature -273°C (known as the Absolute Zero), so it’s impossible to reach negative one million temperature Celsius.
3. Even if there were negative one million Celsius, the energy released would not be -4*10⁶ Joule. It violates the Heat Capacity Formula.

4 : 11400 Km of Ice

Claim : “So we can find the height of the ice when the temperature of earth at that time was negative one million celcius. *while calculating* We get the height of the ice is 11400 km. So at that time as if it occurred ‘Earth Refrigator’ at negative one million celcius with the height of ice is 11400km.”

1. The author uses ‘out-of-nowhere’ formula to calculate the height of the Ice. It’s a Cocoklogi Extreme Level. It doesn't even use the volume of water, area of Earth, or even density of ice in the calculation.
2. Even if 11400 km of ice were assumed as true, the ice wall would have been almost as high as the diameter of earth itself (12,756 km). With such absurd height of ice wall, all life at the time would have ceased to exist and there would have been no human and no Sulaiman’s Borobudur.

5 : Moving Borobudur caused ‘Earth Refrigator’

Claim : “This prove that the earth had suddenly turned cold and frozen. (Shown the ’evidence’ in Kilimajaro, Alpen and Quelccaya). Even now, there is no scientist who can explain this phenomenon with any climate theory, why our earth had suddenly turned cold and frozen. Who stole the energy as much as that? The answer is that they have to come to Indonesia Castle of Ratu Boko, ___, because the stone (temple) moved with incredible speed”.

1. There are several scientific possibilities which may explain the sudden drop of temperature in Earth. One of its possible explanation is The Big Freeze. It is an abrupt drop of temperature which froze northern hemisphere for about 1300 years. It happened around 12800 years ago and such sudden change may need only to take over a few months or a year or two.
2. This so-called ‘Earth Refrigerator’ phenomenon is already widely known as the Ice Age. It is a period of colder global temperatures that features recurring glacial expansion across the Earth’s surface. This is not an extremely anomaly and so far scientists have recorded five significant ice ages throughout the Earth’s history.

6 : Arupa Dhatu Temple Moved at Incredible Speed

Claim : “This stone in Ratu Boko palace as you see (top picture), it’s still ‘original’ and not been moved yet. This one (bottom picture) is already moved in Arupa Dhatu, as if it’s melting. The answer is here why earth lose such energy, because this stone is moved at incredible speed.”

1. The bottom picture is not the sign of ‘melting’ stone but the deterioration of the temple due to environmental conditions. It can be caused by rain, wind, heat, acid water and all combinations factor which worsen structure of the relief over the course of ages.
2. If Borobudur had actually moved at such incredible speed, the Borobudur would have been destroyed. During such high speed of travel, the air friction would have caused tremendous heat and friction due to Aerodynamic heating. Even Meteor that travels into earth at mere 20km/s cause such massive damage to the meteor itself, what about Borobudur that travel at 60000 times of light speed? But as we can see, Borobudur stands perfectly without any visible damage from high speed air travel.

7 : Other Common Sense Contradiction

Claim : “Borobudur is the heritage of Sulaiman Prophet”

1. The Borobudur statues is very similar to Buddha’s appreance and they all pose in meditation position which is integral part in Buddha teaching.
2. Temple relief in Borobudur describes legendary stories in Buddha Holy Book such as Lalitavistara, Karmavibhangga, Jataka, Avadana and Gandavyuha.
3. Why does Sulaiman allow statues in the temple? It simply contradict to the very teaching of Islam itself which forbid all kind of statues.

Conclusion

The conclusion made in both video and book are totally flawed. There are far too many contradictions, the formulas are absurd, the arguments come out of nowhere and the deduction is full of cocoklogi. You can find more counter-argument in this link. Overall, both book and video can’t be true at all.

It’s unfortunate that some muslims in Indonesia blindly believe this ridiculous theory. The ‘Borobudur & Peninggalan Borobudur’ book is quite booming in Indonesia, even several major medias such as Republika, TVRI, Trans7 and many Islam websites (VOA-Islam, Hidayatullah, etc) also support this. Personally, this gives impression that some muslims are very subjective and gullible to hoax.

As the writer of this article, i don’t have any ill will toward Muslims. The motive of this article is to remind us to be more cautions to such pompous claims. If we really want to achieve the golden age of Islam, then at very least, we all should learn how to be more objective and critical to information we consume, particularly hoax-like information.
