How to thrive in hyper-transparent world

Privacy has become a spotlight during these years. Sometimes privacy is kind of magic. When I shop or spot at some stores in the day, I probably will get some social media ads in my account. I used to think why technology always know the products I would like to purchase. Is it magic, no?
We can completely say no to this kind of data application since machine learning from people and help for technology development. I believe that it is time to regulate internet right now. With the mature of market and people are noticing privacy issue, data service suppliers should come up with some regulation. On the one hand, it will protect data users and users will retain with regulated service providers. It is very easy for users to drop off and switch social media since there is no switch cost. On the other hand, regulation will help to build cleaner and safer internet world. If people seize the opportunities to hack, it cannot image the destroy.
To regulate the internet data service providers should ask whether users want to share their data and restrict the use and define the liability. It is fair for company to make money by data if there are properly restrictions. The reason is that internet will have more efficient campaigns for business. It also provide convenience for people.
Those companies are not only include FB, Google who already have digital platforms with users but also third-party data companies. Website cookies will be collected by website itself or third-party data companies. Those companies can provide data to business and also can restrict their use via platforms they manage.
We cannot deny that FB and Google are too powerful. Taking google for example, Google has dominated search engine market for a while and there is almost a blue ocean for Google because there is no competition. Google has the largest share of market and wallet. Nowadays Google ADs and paid search show power in digital marketing. However, there is no competitors can balance this situation.
All in all, if we can restrict use of data privacy and ask preference with users, data privacy will benefit us.
