Our Strained Relationship With Food
Kris Gage

I feel this deeeep in my soul. As one of those “health nuts” who became obsessed with food, I’ve run around the block with all kinds of fad diets. Funny enough, nothing actually eased my anxiety toward food until I actually started learning how to cook in earnest. And not just cooking “health foods” or low-whatever alternatives of “real food,” but cooking real food with all the fats and salts they required. It’s as if an angel came down and told me I didn’t have to suffer bland food to be healthy. Learning about what made food taste good and what made it nutritious gave me a deeper appreciation for it, which replaced the ravenous need to simply consume.
