The Thoughts

One of the most beautiful sounds is a pencil scratching a piece of paper.

The beauty of writing comes from the meaning behind each word. Thoughts are abstract, and no one can see them or hear them until someone describes them in words. Writing is a way to document these thoughts and to share them with more people.

The Past

I love writing.

Being a quiet kid in the neighborhood, I often spent time alone at home. My parents loved me, but they had many things to do at that time. We were not poor, but we were not rich enough to afford a good life and a good education. They were trying hard to build a better life for me in this competitive world. They wanted their child to have the best education which they can afford. I’m grateful for that.

My Mom felt sad that she was always too busy, so she gave me a blank journal. She encouraged me to write in that small journal, and share it with her when she returned from her business trips.

I wrote poems about melodies played by the wind, colors of the sunshine at different times, and feelings of the last leaf in autumn.

How does it feel?

Surprisingly, my dad heard about the poems I wrote. He shared with me the poems he wrote when he was young. In my memories, my dad was a grumpy person. After reading his poems, I was so confounded that my dad was such a different person when he was young. He was so airy and poetic. He wrote things about the temperature of the moonlight and other miraculous objects.

Therefore, writing became a way for me to communicate with my parents. I was able to see the other side of their life.

I also realized I would never grow old, but grow up, and I would like to never lose love and who I am.

Good night.
