As a cyber-security enthusiast, this is actually a class of attack I’ve never heard of but makes a ton of sense. With native secure hash instructions being present on many consumer and enterprise level CPUs (see https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-sha-extensions), why are we not leveraging those over custom secure hash implementations like SipHash? Is the performance degradation really that significant between the two?
