Mediterranean skies

Orion rising. Late August you can see the hunter hovering above the southeastern horizon right before dawn. To the left is Venus and further above her the Twins. The bright star right next to the cypress tree in the second picture is Sirius.

Come late autumn, the time of the dawn of Orion will be early in the evening. But in mid northern latitudes to catch him ascending together with Venus you need to be an early riser also. And it has to be this time of the year, when summer reaches its end.
