“The hard part, is that a man alone with a child …”

Sickening but true. As a retired attorney, I had considered accepting a request that I volunteer to assist in situations involving abused children, until I found out that I would be required to spend time alone with the child, sometimes for prolonged periods. I don’t have issues with kids. Helped raise two of my own and they are the joy of my life. But my wife and I discussed this at length and ultimately decided the risk of false accusation and the presumption of guilt where a man is involved with a child was not worth it. Too bad.
