Without delving into minutia (3,000 plus pages of it) the ultimate goal of Obama Care is wealth re-distribution in order to increase the ranks of those to whom Democrats can pander. Consider the following simplified scenario: A married couple earning $60,000 per year pre-tax without employer-paid medical benefits (Couple A) is ineligible for subsidized health care. A married couple earning $30,000 per year pre-tax without employer-paid medical benefits (Couple B) is eligible for heavily subsidized health care. Of course, those paying for their own health care must pay more in order to pay for those that do not pay. Depending on age and some other factors, the cost for un-subsidized health care for two can be $2,500 per month (or $30,000 per year) (this is a real figure quoted to me by friends actually paying it). So when you deduct the $30,000 from $60,000, now Couple A’s income has been reduced to the same income level as Couple B. Ironically, Couple A in a real sense is paying for Couple B’s health care and so now, everybody is equally poor. Isn’t that grand! It doesn’t matter if Couple A’s increased income came from hard work, two rather than single earner family, sacrifices to obtain education or whatever. Everyone is in the same poverty boat. Oh, and because the cost of medical care is not deductible from taxes, Couple A will have to pay income tax based on the higher earnings, further reducing the effective spending power of whatever remains.
