On a whim, several years back, I tried out for “It’s a Wonderful Life” with the local theatre group. Much to my shock and amazement, I got the part of Ma Bailey. Although the part was small, and I spent many nights sitting in the high school theatre without even getting on the stage during rehearsals, it felt wonderful to step outside of the person everyone thinks I am. In life and on stage.
Two months later, I got a part in The Thirty-nine Steps. It was a big one and I kind of cultivated an English accent for it. Truly exhilarating.
But then, I was done. My curiosity satisfied.
Now, if Jules were to agree to be my co-star, I most certainly would opt for a comeback. I would start polishing up my accent and practicing my expressions. Of course, we would need you to be right up on stage with us!
Thanks for using the word elegant to describe me (us). I love the thought of that. All Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn.
