How to Reduce the Poverty in The World?

As the world progress, the gap between the rich and poverty is an unavoidable topic. The poverty problem has emerged as an acute social problem. There are some researches and thoughts for Goal 1- No Poverty.

What is the Poverty? When we mention poverty, Someone would say; homeless and refugees. Some people think of the person who lives in developing countries or regions and can not pay for daily life; Also, some believe that poverty means less than $3,000 per month. Everyone has a different standard of poverty.

The poverty line in the United States is $12,290 for a single person and $25,750 for a four-member family (2019). As a comparison, the international poverty line is $1.9 a day (693.5 a year) for a single person in 2021. Therefore, poverty is a subjective term, and the standards of poverty are determined by country, region, city, and family income. For this Blog, I would like to mention how to reduce absolute poverty, the population’s income is less than $ 1.9 a day.

The most important reason to choose No-Poverty as my topic is that I think everyone and all companies, organizations, and governments should be responsible for reducing poverty. My parents often tell me stories from their childhood, and they were born in a tiny village in China 50 years ago. China was very poor in that era, food shortage, lack of medicines, hard to receive a good education, especially in a small village. I know how bad life is in poverty, So I want to invoke more people and organizations to care about poverty.

In 2019, the GDP of the top 500 companies accounted for one-third of the world. These companies are essential if we want to reduce poverty globally because these companies provide plenty of jobs worldwide. For most people in the world, having a stable job means life is guaranteed. Therefore, It is very important whether a company’s culture cares about helping to reduce poverty. I hope this blog inspires someone, whether you are a business owner, manager, employee, or just a simple person.

I know The Coca-Cola Company had some actions in Africa 2005, it called Replenish Africa Initiative. The program aims to help more people have reliable, clean, and sustainable water resources in Africa.

Three questions I have about this Blog;

  1. Is poverty guilty?

I am interested in these three questions because this is the first step for us to find a way to reduce poverty. To know what causes poverty and solve the poverty.
