Taiwanese Delicacy

I’m a Taiwanese and I want to introduce some Taiwanese traditional food today. I think that price level in Taiwan is low so everyone can enjoy delicious food without spending lots of money.

The first one I’m going to introduce is TRA No. 1 Boxed Lunch Store. When I was a senior high school student, I went to school by train every day. Therefore, I usually ate Train Box Lunch as my meal. Train Box Lunch, a very simple & traditional lunch box, makes me think of the life in rural areas. There are various kinds of lunchboxes provided in the station. The basic box, costs 60$, includes a stewed egg, a piece of bean curd sheet, soy sauce braised pork ribs, some vegetables, and rice. The more expensive one costs from 80–100. Definitely, the latter is better than the former, and the sides are more plentiful. Also, It offers vegetarian another option. All in all, the price is OK, the meal is great, and the cp value is high. If you want to experience the traditional flavor of Taiwan’s delicacy, you must regard the train lunch box as your first option.

The second one I’m going to introduce is 藍家割包. Koah-pau come from Fuzhou style dishes, and due to their shapes, someone has called them “Chinese hamburgers” or “Taiwanese hamburgers”. This place ( 藍家割包 ) is the most famous Koah-pau stand in Taiwan. Any Koah-pau lover must taste them before. Long times ago, the traditional Koah-pau contained more peanut powder and parsley in it. This stand improved it by adding more peanut butter. The specialty of this kind of snack is you can decide the percentage of the fat meat you want. In my opinion, I think 50–50 is the best. You can also order a four gods soup to warm your body. Every time when I go to Gongguan, this stand is always in my pocket list. If you’re Taiwanese, I think that you’ve already ate it before XD. If you’re foreigners, don’t miss the opportunity to experience Taiwan style hamburgers!

The third one is 百年吳家鼎邊銼. Actually, I’m an international student from Taiwan and I’m in the USA now. I still have trouble adjusting American food. I miss Taiwanese food so much, especially Ding edge file (鼎邊銼). This stand has opened over 100 years. It’s the most famous Ding edge file (鼎邊銼) stand in Taiwan. You can also order its material bag on the Internet, and make it on your own in your house. Ding edge file is made from rice contains lilies, pork, shrimp, mushrooms, squid, mushrooms, bamboo shoots. Ding edge file itself is very Q and smells really good. It’s always in my pocket list when I have the opportunity to go to Keelung night market. It’s the best delicacy in Keelung. If you’re Taiwanese, I speculate that you definitely ate it before. If you’re foreigners, when you come to Taiwan, never doubt to go to Keelung to experience this traditional Taiwan food!

The forth one is 阿柑姨芋圓. 阿柑姨芋圓 is the most famous taro ball in Taiwan. 九份 is famous for its taro balls and traditional architecture style. You have to walk a lot to get to this store, but it’s definitely worth it. You can have a good view there because it’s on the mountain. The taro balls there are fresh made everyday. Its taro balls are really al dente. It’s really special! I recommend everyone to give it a try because of its Q taro balls.

The last one is 老江紅茶牛奶. The milk tea here is consisted of traditional black tea and milk. It is really amazing! It’s a famous breakfast stand and you need to wait in line for several minutes on the weekend. I recommend everyone buy more, because you definitely will miss the milk tea here soon!

Hope everyone can visit Taiwan! Have fun:)))
