Opinion: 5 Reasons Why Roronoa Zoro Could Be a Daimyo in Wano

In Wano, daimyo is a term to refer to a ruler of a region. Like for example Shimotsuki Ushimaru used to be the daimyo for the Ringo region.

I feel that Roronoa Zoro actually deserves to be a daimyo in one of the Wano regions in One Piece.

Why is that? Here are some reasons!

1. Hereditary factors

Members of the Shimotsuki clan were once daimyo in two Wano regions.

The daimyō of the Hakumai region is Shimotsuki Yasuie, while the daimyō of the Ringo region is Shimotsuki Ushimaru.

Well, it turns out that Shimotsuki Ushimaru is the younger brother of Shimotsuki Furiko, Zoro’s grandmother.

So in lineage, Zoro seems entitled to claim the position of Ringo’s daimyo.

2. Service factor

Kozuki Momonosuke and Akazaya Nine have seen the Straw Hats’ services in Onigashima.

The Straw Hat Pirates really played a big role in defeating Kaido and his crew.

Zoro, in particular, is the one who defeated King, Kaido’s powerful subordinate.

So not only does Zoro have the factor that his grandmother is Shimotsuki Furiko, he also does a lot of work.

Of course, this merit may not be known to the ordinary people of Wano. In chapter 1052, for example, the people of Wano only know that the one who defeated Kaido was “Joy Boy.”

In chapter 1053, it was shown that Luffy really asked Momo not to tell about him to the people of Wano. The problem is that later Luffy will be considered a hero, and he doesn’t want that.

But still… the higher ups of Wano now know of that merit.

3. Zoro’s sword skills are extraordinary

From what little we’ve seen, Shimotsuki Ushimaru appears to be an excellent swordsman.

Well… Zoro’s swordsmanship is extraordinary, he was able to carve a wound that left an imprint on Kaido’s body.

In terms of sword skills, Zoro could even surpass Ushimaru.

So when it comes to protecting territory, Zoro can definitely be relied upon!

4. Ringo is an area that feels right for Zoro

If, for example, Zoro wants to become a daimyo in Wano, he will most likely get Ringo’s territory (since it’s Ushimaru’s territory).

Ringo’s people in chapter 953 are said to have been gifted with a katana when they were born.

When they died, the katana became their headstone.

Zoro feels suitable to be a daimyo because of Ringo’s tradition like that. He might be the right person to organize the protection of the swords that served as gravestones in the tomb.

Apart from that, there is also the factor that Ryuma’s tomb is in Ringo.

Shusui should have been returned to Ryuma’s grave by now.

Shusui was once stolen. If Zoro becomes Ringo’s daimyo, he can prevent that from happening again.

5. It is not yet known whether Ushimaru has children or not

Besides that, there is also the factor that Ushimaru is not yet known to have children or not.

If Ushimaru didn’t have children, then the daimyo position in Ringo would have been vacant, if Zoro wanted it.

Especially considering that Zoro’s grandmother is Shimotsuki Furiko.

So that’s my opinion, the reason why Roronoa Zoro actually became a daimyo in Wano.

That said, it’s worth noting: while Zoro could be daimyo, I suspect he wouldn’t want to take the position.

He didn’t feel like the type who would want a position like this. At least for now, since he’s still adventuring with Luffy.
