Totally agree. Gentrifiers in my Brooklyn neighborhood have been going around knocking on doors and shaking hands. One even baked and offered us cookies. Um, no thanks. Cookies don’t make this — or any of your other ills- okay. And by doing that — even in a super community- oriented neighborhood like mine- you ARE trying to change it. In fact, just by being there you HAVE changed it. Between this couples awful, naive (?) financial awareness, grubby book writing, and gentrification, I just find it really difficult to be kind.
