THE SECRET BOX
Your curiosity is constantly piqued by a closed box. People are not interested in open boxes, however. For instance, a closed box lying nearby attracts more attention than an open box full of actual, genuine pearls with high prices. People prefer the items in the closed box above those in the open box, even though the closed box it may just contain one duplicate pearl. The same is true of how we approach and offer advice to others. When we notice someone who is having trouble as a true friend or family member, we often offer advice or solutions, but most people just ignore them. That might be the case because it’s free counsel, or perhaps something akin. But they instantly believe it is the right choice and follow it when they see a complete stranger or anything else on social media where they can find a solution or an idea. They implement it right away believing it to be the best decision. However, by the time they realized it was a mistake, they would have dug much further.Try to be a little more introverted from time to time; don’t be an open book when giving advice.Although I am not speaking in every instance, in most of those cases, individuals will respond in this manner. Only those who truly seem like they’ll pay attention to your guidance or advice should receive it. Because we know it’s precious.
The same goes for the story I’m about to share about the pianist Brad Leander, who has an outstanding skill for playing the piano and is a well-known performer. Brad has a remarkable aptitude for understanding the very nature of the instrument and for playing it expressively in a way that, depending on the style he chooses to perform in, causes the audience to embark on a time travel. His playlist appeals to a specific group of people. Dimitri Leander, his son, was an amateur pianist. As Brad grew older, he wanted to impart all of his expertise to his only son, but Dimitri had little interest in learning how to play the piano; he was content to simply play the instrument.
In fact, Brad knows of Dimitri’s thoughts. A person cannot be made to develop an interest in or fascination with an art unless they actively seek it out or develop an interest in it. Brad was born into wealth, just like Dimitri, but Brad learned the trade from his father, who was not only a brilliant businessman but also a pianist. Due to the fact that Brad spoiled Dimitri from an early age, he had no idea of values. Brad knew the art of producing money and was like a money magnet. He learned it from his father’s business strategies and some from his personal experiences. When it comes to money, Dimitri knows only to spend what his father has made. Brad no longer has faith in Dimitri. He is certain that his son will waste all of his money in a few years.
Brad made the decision to secure all the important documents from his son. Brad doesn’t want his son to misuse the property documents because Dimitri loves gambling. Despite their large home’s abundance of antiques, he is unable to keep all of the priceless artifacts hidden from his son. He is certain that Dimitri will sell all of these at some point. Brad was limited to hiding the papers and the family’s priceless ruby jewellery. In Brad’s opinion, his piano is his most priceless possession out of all of them, and it’s a classical piano. Additionally, it features a hidden box or compartment under the keyboard that no one is aware of. Even at the time of his death, he managed to keep that a secret. When a specific note is played on the keyboard, the piano’s concealed compartment opens up. The chords are arranged to serve as a lock for the secret compartment, so it’s like deciphering the notes. The compartment opens up with a clinging sound when those specific notes are played or deciphered. Brad used to hide his valuables in the compartment, which is similar to a secret box, but this time, before his death, he stored all the property documents and a ruby pendant within.
The family is unaware of the secret box. Brad wants his son to know his morals and work to support himself. He believed that Dimitri might one day decode the notes to open the secret box. During his time of death, he gave Dimitri a cylindrical wooden box with a neatly arranged scroll of musical notes inside (the actual notes to decode and unlock the secret box). The notes might look very simple, but they need a proper knack to play so that they will unlock. Dimitri was also made to promise that he would never ever sell or give away the piano to anyone, regardless of the circumstances. Whatever arrives, the piano needs to be in the house.
Dimitri developed a greater dependence on drinking and gambling after the death of his father. Most of the artefacts in his home were actually being sold one by one. He spends his entire day gambling instead of working. Except for the piano, all of the antiques were sold by him. Peter Leander, Dimitri’s son, developed a love for the piano as he grew older. He was always drawn to playing the piano because of its classic appearance, and he eventually developed a passion for it.His grandfather’s legacy may be seen in the way Peter plays the instrument. Peter was so committed to keep the piano in good condition that he frequently dusted and tuned it. Due to his addiction, Dimitri nearly lost everything. His wife, Emma, who was running an orchid business, looked after the family. The family never faced an economic crisis because of Emma.
People from many locations were invited to an auction that was held at the city hall one day, where locals could bring their antique items for auction. There, they could bid on and buy their favorite antique items. Dimitri made the decision to auction off their family’s ruby pendant as soon as the news was announced. He was never aware of its importance, and he never considered how much his parents and grandparents treasured it. All he wants to do is make some money by selling it at auction. It belonged to their family as a prestigious collection.Dimitri started looking for it all throughout the house and eventually came to his father’s room. He is fully aware that his father would have kept the ruby pendant safe. Brad, his father, is known to have a number of safety lockers for various expenses. The safety locker’s keys now belonged to Dimitri. He had already spent every penny in the lockers, but this time he tried opening each empty one to see if there was a concealed compartment — possibly on the back or underneath, etc. — in there.
He looked into every possibility but was unable to find it. He even tried looking under the piano, but nothing turned up. He began mentally accusing his father and asked his family to look for the ruby pendant since he wanted it so badly. For the sake of their father, everyone began looking for it. Peter was looking as well, hoping that nobody would find it. He respects his family’s values and traditions, and he remembers seeing his grandmother wearing that ruby pendant in an old photograph. He never wanted to lose the pendant at the auction.
Dimitri ended up at the wooden box( given by his dad) that was normally kept on the living room book shelf while looking for the ruby pendant. He didn’t give a damn about the music note or the scroll because they’re so easily accessible to everyone. He never thought about why his father handed it to him on his deathbed. He insists that he never works hard for anything and gets everything he wants easily. He was unaware that the scroll was a treasure’s key. As I stated at the very beginning, people always have plans for a locked box, but they pay little attention to an open box that might contain an actual treasure.Like his father, Dimitri’s wife Emma also urged him to play the note on the scroll, but he ignored her advice. He became impatient and tossed the wooden box out the window when no one was able to find the pendant. As we are familiar with Peter, when he saw this, he hurried to get it and put it in his room. Peter opened the scroll gently and began playing it once all the commotion had subsided. He couldn’t understand anything because they were quite complex notes, so he put them inside the box just as they were.
Peter gradually began to master the piano as the days went by. He plays solely on special occasions and never goes to concerts. No matter where he plays, he only feels fulfilled when he plays his grandfather’s piano while admiring their front yard. He has a vintage feel because of it. When he starts playing the piano, even his family members are delighted. His mom frequently claims that the music Peter plays reminds them of their grandfather and makes them feel his presence. Peter’s skill at playing around improved day by day, and he started to compose his own music. He frequently used his grandfather’s sheet music as a source of reference. His grandfather usually kept his sheet music neatly organised in a wooden cabinet.
Peter Leander played the right notes and read music swiftly. It was much simpler for him to learn how to play all of his favourite songs once he grasped the key notes. — — — — — — — , Being a novice simply means learning what the symbols on the paper are asking your hands to do.He passed through all of these stages and began to become an expert in knowing the names of piano keys, the notes on the musical staff, time signatures, note values, and various musical symbols (practise, time, etc.). He became a genius at an early age due to his commitment to learning how to read sheet music so that he could perform contemporary music.Without his grandfather, he is unable to acquire such wisdom.
As his family members had left to attend a birthday party, Peter felt unusually lonely one evening. To distract himself at the time, he began to experiment with piano chords and recalled his grandfather’s wooden music box. When his grandfather passed away, he wondered why something was given to his dad. Because the scroll in the wooden box was given to him instead of the other notes, which were all housed in the wooden cabinet, he wondered why. He guessed that it must be highly unique compared to other sheet notes. He then tried playing the piano and began to read the unique notes.
He initially botched the key because he was puzzled by the symbols used in the notes, which had no rhythm. Even though the music was out of sync and he was unable to find a melody in it, his desire just grew as he continued to play it. He was prompted to attempt it again with various combinations by an inner voice. He tried and tried, and finally he attempted the last thing he could think of, where the rhythm was right and he remembered the music his grandfather used to play when Peter was very small. When he thought back to the music from when he was young, he was able to solve the riddle his grandfather included in the sheet music. He has now gotten the knack of it. Now, without a slip of the finger, he attempted to play that tune just like his grandfather. Upon completion, he looked up to the ceiling to celebrate his accomplishment, but to his surprise, a secret compartment had popped up with a clinging sound beneath the keyboard. He knew his grandfather was a mysterious man who had several secret lockers, so he always expected this, but the piano locker really surprised him.
Peter was thrilled when he found the ruby jewel that his father had been looking for inside the secret compartment. In reality, he was overjoyed when he saw that the ruby pendant was safely stored and did not fall into the wrong hands. He was really impressed by his grandfather’s way of thinking. Peter didn’t want to tell his family or anyone else, just like his grandfather. He then touched and felt the ruby pendant and noticed what more it contained in it ,his grandpa’s will and a few power of attorney documents. In addition, his grandfather included a note in the box requesting that anyone who opens it contact his attorney so they can get a copy of the original will and own his property . Peter thought about not telling the family about it until he was 18 and also thinking about his father’s attitude. Instead, he made the choice to place everything exactly as it was back inside the hidden box. In the future, he may look into it. He was aware that the secret to it is hidden in the open box — the wooden scroll box — which he will protect. As I already explained, the open box has value as well; in this instance, it holds the treasure’s key.
In the above-quoted tale, Dimitri readily ignored the advice of his dad and wife, but his son Peter Leander, who had seen his dad’s ignorance, got the chance to acquire everything. Therefore, advice given by family members is always precious and will undoubtedly be unwavering. Don’t let it pass you by; take action when it is appropriate.
