Hi Vishrut, thanks for asking such a great question!

You’re right in that there are actually users who just use their phones to set alarms. I see two scenarios that the alarms wouldn’t work so well:

1) when trains deviate from their usual schedule
2) when the user deviates from their usual schedule

For very punctual users riding on very punctual metro systems, the out-of-the-box phone alarms might be enough just like you said. For users with some schedule changes (working late, or working shifts, or…always late, like me!) having the alarm detects when you’re commuting and set off according to your location is helpful.
