A scroll down the archives has also become a stroll down the memory lane.

I am not a writer; I have had to force myself to be consistent to develop it as a habit. But what I’ve always been is passionate about building.

Entrepreneurship excited me before I knew how its done, and growing by empowering each other is something I have believed in from the absolute beginning.

The blog starts from below this. I hope you enjoy as much as I did revisiting it :)

I woke up earlier than usual and asked myself if today is the day to write down some words for my first blog.

I never thought when I first moved to America that I’ll be ever writing or working on startups. I was a shy kid or can define myself as a socially awkward kid who couldn’t really interact with anyone.

I was working on an idea to help car dealers create their online store and i was stuck from all the basic to advanced questions about choosing the right tools while also saving money to how the execution really works. I had no idea and didn’t really know whom to ask. I realized I needed to ask people who are actually running startups…

After few failures and thinking that I know everything and have no courage to ask anyone for help.

One day, I was killing some time on meetup.com and found this startup rooftop event. I actually haven’t been to a rooftop before and I found my reason to go there. I somehow made it and the view was worth it. I stood in a corner so that I don’t talk to anyone but since entrepreneurs love asking “what you do”, they had to find and ask me too. It started with one person and just went on and on for the next 2–3 hours. I started feeling lighter and more relaxed. I actually start to like it. It was so much fun to know all these amazing smart people. I knew that’s it’s just beginning of my learning.

Few months after I started working on an idea and with each day I had more and more questions to be answered. At the same time I was making a new habit of reading books. After my first book “The Dip” I was ready to move on to Steve Jobs biography and one of the things that he said really made me thinking: “All you have to do is pick up the phone and call.”

For me the phone was Twitter and I started finding people that I can connect to like a phone directory. Year of TechCrunch, news, blogs, and other media sites helped me to get acquainted with some startups and people behind them.

I couldn’t wait any further to ask people and see if it really works. There were few things I asked and few amazing people who were generous to reply back.

I did this more often and then started reading what they all share.

I learned, absorbed and met more people, and it’s just a never ending process. I asked why all these people are doing this and why they wanna help me but since I didn’t know why, I made my own answer that they are teaching me how to be generous to others, keep spreading the knowledge and value human connection.

Since then everyday is a happy day for me to learn and share.

Don’t make assumptions as they always lead you with no answers. Asking is the best thing that has happened to me. I believe that everyone human on this planet is equal. If someone is more knowledgeable or successful that doesn’t mean they won’t help but it means we didn’t ask.

Sometimes we asked just once and never ask again but it doesn’t hurt to try.

All these things thought me a lesson to start sharing and be ready where there is someone out there looking to ask.

Every week I meet one new person. I learn about their story and ask questions I have and their feedback on what I am doing.

Measure your ask and response rate and tell people. Show gratitude and thank them.
