Great article, enjoyed reading. A couple of years ago me and some college buddies were confused about why girls didn’t choose computer science as a major. I asked my little sister why she wasn’t interested and her answer was, simply, the fact that it was boring. And most of her friends answered similarly. Many girls grow up watching other older girls, they look up to them. Take my sister for example, when I asked her who she looked up to as a role model her first answer was Kylie Jenner and when I posed the same question to my cousin he said Elon Musk. Now, I’m not claiming that all girls dislike engineering and anything related to STEM. But I am saying, from my experience and from being a member of a family that’s STRONGLY pushy in terms of what careers to pursue, that some girls are simply not interested and that number is significantly larger than anyone thought.
