In ODI World Cup 2007, a total of 16 teams played representing their nations. The very next 2011 world cup this number came down to 14 teams and if we look at the recent 2 editions of world cup 2019 and 2023, the number of teams have reduced to 10.
The number of bilateral series of cricketing nations with India have significantly raised. Whereas, the number of bilateral series and matches along other countries have decreased year by year overburdening the Indian Cricket Team and diminishing the opportunity for other teams.
