Nice. Gotta love those recruitment pitches, so much the work reality show. One of my favs was ‘ 5–10% of your work time will be dedicated to research’. Huh? Obviously that never happened. Yep, most employment pitches are crass bait and switches. Millennials, X’ers or whoevers first workplace rule of thumb is to notice that like tinsel on Xmas trees, bright, glittery and other beautiful outcomes is major window dressing obscuring realities of producing product or services. If this task doesn’t produce profit, it’s over, fast. Today’s capitalist goals are hardly ever satisfied with single digit profits, at least double digit profit is expected by orgs as a whole. Company parties and get togethers, treat tables and other would be work perks are the window dressing for this reality. The author says it all referencing the ‘fast pace’ pitch, the real translation is make profit faster! This self fulfilling loop is the trap we all have made and lived in. Until we drop the idea of more is not enough we will dwell on this number chasing treadmill until our demise, you see work service is not for people it’s to bigger numbers, thats it.
