New Generation Decentralized Gaming
2021 has been a historic year for NFT games, with Axie Infinity’s user and trading figures all exploding, and many other games coming out.
On the other hand, I also think that the current NFT game is incomplete.
I would like to mention some of the challenges of the current NFT game and to write about my vision for the next game.
NFT games are too centralised
In November, Axie officially announced the following: “Account ban”. And the number of bans is 24,000.
Banning users who cheat is a normal part of gaming.
However, this is not the case in DeFi. For example, we have never heard of Uniswap banning a banned user.
There was also a separate incident on Axie, where it was announced that Axie would be adjusting the strength of characters at regular intervals, but not at regular intervals.
Axie is a very centralised game. The same is true for other NFT games.
DeFi, on the other hand, is Decentralized Finance, which means it’s very decentralized.
The Maker Foundation, for example, which led the way in issuing the DAI staple coin, has announced that it will be dissolved.
This is possible because it is decentralised: even if the Maker Foundation is dissolved, users will still be able to issue and use DAIs.
Blockchains are decentralized in the first place, as they are permissionless and anyone can join the network.
It is not a good idea for NFT games to be run in a centralised way.
What kind of decentralised games should we be aiming for?
So, what kind of game is decentralized?
Let’s take a look at two aspects: decentralisation and gameplay.
The new game will be inferior to the other games in terms of gameplay, but will be closer to DeFi in terms of dispersion.
The question is: what is “gameplay”? What is gameplay?
DeFi can be seen as a kind of game. It’s like a grand casino. You buy and sell coins, staking them here and there in order to maximise your profits.
But in my opinion, the gameplay has the following elements
1. a specific goal
2. a competitive element, with a winner and a loser
3. a certain level of luck or randomness.
DeFi has some of these elements, but we’re trying to make it more focused.
How do we make decentralised gaming a reality?
For a Decentralized game, what you need is a Fully On-Chained. There are three reasons for this
1, Permissionless. Anyone can play freely, from any country. Basically, you can’t be banned.
2, Autonomous. The game runs autonomously. No maintenance required.
3, Open. No change of specifications by the management (if they do, it will be known immediately)
These three elements cannot be achieved in an off-chain game: as you can see from DeFi, everything needs to be done On-Chain and all results need to be recorded On-Chain.
We need a game where all the character development, status, items, battle logic, battle wins and losses are all recorded On-Chain.
What is the Fully On-Chained game “CryptoFrontier”?
That’s why we set up a DAO called “FrontierDAO” to create the Fully On-Chained game, FrontierDAO is a DAO to create the Full On-Chained game “CryptoFrontier”.
The rough specifications of the game are as follows
It’s quite similar to DeFi, but has a battle element where you fight for land called the frontier.
In the future, we would like to add character development and blending elements to make battles in the form of country vs country.
We are currently looking for people to contribute to FrontierDAO in the form of “jobs”. We will be awarding FRO tokens (Frontier Tokens) to those who contribute, depending on the job.
Please join us on discord for more info!
Roadmap
FRO tokens are tokens to be issued in the future.
We do not guarantee the value of FRO tokens.
The value of FRO tokens is not guaranteed and some DeFi contracts may be subject to banning.
