The “New Normal” in Life Science Coverage: SPRING Forward with Intelligence

Three months into the COVID-19 Pandemic, we can all reflect on how we have had to change… and fast! We are working from home, schooling our children and restricting all travel, we have had to learn and adjust rapidly to this new normal.

While the media focuses on the latest developments around COVID testing on a global scale, prevention, vaccines and treatments, we cannot forget all the patients suffering from other conditions. With 9.5 million cancer-related deaths worldwide in 2018, cancer care remains a priority with research for new and more efficacious treatments on-going, even during this exceptional time in which we find ourselves.

ASCO, the world’s largest oncology conference, is well known as a forum where oncology experts from around the world are presenting the results of clinical trials at the vanguard of cancer care and news of potentially groundbreaking discoveries to improve the lives of cancer patient. This year, the ASCO Annual Meeting, traditionally organized with surgical precision in Chicago, was agilely moved to a Virtual format, promising over 61,000 participants compared to 42,500 in 2019. It is “the place to be” for anyone involved in the oncology field, where trends, treatments, protocols and assets are being discussed in formal and informal sessions.

Reporting and covering ASCO for our Life Science Clients is the highlight of the 2nd Quarter; this focus allows us to dig deep to get the most contemporary and detailed information around groundbreaking clinical trials that stand to impact the standard of care. This year, the Virtual format has under no circumstances diminished the importance of reporting on ASCO 2020, with over 6,100 sessions, in 3 days, forming the Virtual Scientific Program.

Not surprisingly, the sheer number of virtual participants trying to access content coupled with the large number of sessions in the Scientific Program generated some technical glitches (most often resolved in a timely manner); yet, ASCO delivered some promising results across the board.

As much as the Virtual format could have led to a death of communication with KOLs, in actual fact, the opposite was true for us at GlobalReach BI.… When additional clarifications were required, our questions received an almost immediate response.

Thorough pre-congress preparation is critical for any large conference like ASCO, so focused Primary intelligence remains key, even in a virtual environment. We needed to quickly adapt our strategy to focus on the preliminary insights gleaned from our extensive congress pre-work in order to maximize the quality of the scientific and business information reported back to our clients with the implications for patients and their business. We are privileged to have a multitude of top experts in their fields to make sense of all the science across the various cancer types; we need to carry on building together for a brighter future for cancer patients.

Building for the future is what we have been doing since the inception of GlobalReach BI, seven years ago. Most recently, our Data Scientists, Clinical Partners and CI Analysts from the industry have been working together to use new AI technology and transcription tools to integrate all available insights to have them at your fingertips.

Our Conference and Monitoring Platform, SPRING is now available. The future of CI best practices will depend on it, thanks to its innovative technology used for storing, searching and updating your insights around your key intelligence topics.

We built it, SPRING is here for you, come and see it!…please e-mail contact@globalreachbi.com to see how your insights can be integrated for fast and efficient retrieval.

The Virtual environment has by no means replaced the in-person option for congresses. Focusing on quality is nothing new for our CI Services, while we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, GlobalReach BI will continue to invest and innovate to best serve our Life Sciences clients, patients and other stakeholders in the Pharmaceutical industry with extraordinary and differentiating insights delivered quickly and efficiently.

Wishing you health, safety and comfort during this challenging time.
