I finished a bootcamp at the end of July and agree with pretty much everything you’ve written. It’s a great idea to spend the last few weeks of the camp getting ready to develop solo — getting your environment set up, and your goals clear.
Applying to everything and anything — YES! We can be flexible with the first job out of a bootcamp, because, as you say, it’s a foot in the door. Once we’ve got even a little bit more concrete experience we can become a bit more picky. (I’ve been applying for paid internships, junior roles, testing, whatever — an internship’s come through first, hurrah!)
One thing I’d maybe recommend — perhaps have a quick look at some other languages? I suspect you’ll find you pick up the basic syntax SUPER quickly — you don’t need to spend more than a day or two on each one. And it just means that if they feature at all in a technical interview you have, you’ll be that much more prepared. One of my first tech interviews involved jQuery and PHP, neither of which I’ve seen before, but a couple of days spent on each had got me (I thiiiiink) pretty much up to speed!
Best of luck with search!
