An Iqama if you see on the above picture is just an Identity card like we have NICOP in Pakistan, Aadhaar in India, etc.

Validity of Iqama

It is valid for one year from the date of issues and should be renewed before expiring or else you will become illegal in Saudia Arabia.

Why you need Iqama?

Iqama is an Arabic word that means ‘Stay’. Once a person lands in KSA then you iqama is your identity. passport is no more can be used but if you are on a visitor tourist visa like Hajj, Umra then you can use your passport.

Who Authorized Iqama

Iqama is issued from MOL — Ministry of Labor Saudi Arabia but is requested by your sponsor aka Kafeel.

What is the Fee of Iqama?

It depends on your company category as per Nitqaat rules. It can be 100 SAR or 6000 SAR.

Why you need Iqama?

As said earlier if you want to work and reside in KSA then you need it or else you will be considered as illegal here in KSA.

What if I don’t have it with me?

If you have iqama but could not show to authorities then you may be put into jail if proven guilty. Make sure to have your Iqama with you when roaming around in KSA.

Benefits of Iqama?

You can do a lot of things like to get a car on a lease, open an account, although you need salary slip with this so that they can evaluate if you are eligible or not.

You are allowed to stay in KSA until unless you have a valid iqama. It is also called Muqeem Card. Driving License, Insurance, Flight Ticket, Bus Tickets even every transaction is required this.
