Totally motivated

Entry #2

Everyone has ideas every day. We rarely act on them. Even when we feel we have a very good idea, our internal dialogue kills it. We convince ourselves that we don’t have the authority or the resources to make it happen. The truth is simply that we are afraid to try and fail. That fear is even stronger when our paycheck is at risk.

This is why I am a bit nervous about sharing a new idea with my team tomorrow. I will be asking three people, who have no reason to trust me, to deconstruct how we have been doing things and to try something new. My goal is twofold: (1) to increase their sense of play, purpose, and potential at work; and (2) to decrease all types of emotional pressures, economic pressures, and inertia currently built into how we work.

I’ll let you know tomorrow how it went.
