As people grow older, do they become less fearful?Do their interests and hobbies shift? Using data from Young people survey which captures age-range between 18 to 30, we can see how interests and fears evolve during the time period.

Age from 15–18 to 19–21 to 22–30

With consistent decrease in green and increase in red, it looks like as people age from teenager to late twenties, they become less interested in celebrities, adrenaline sports, and subjects like Foreign languages, Biology & Chemistry, and more interested in tech, computer and history.

Age from 15–18 to 19–21 to 22–30

In general people became less fearful of animals, darkness, public speaking but more fearful of height as they grew older, if the surveyed population is representative enough.

What I learnt today is using tweenr package to create smooth transition by creating interpolated states between frames.

library(tweenr)
#split dataframe into a list of dataframes based on the frame
dfs <- split(df,df$frame)
tf <- tween_states(dfs, tweenlength = 2, statelength = 3, ease = rep('cubic-in-out',51), nframes=100)
dtf <- data.table(tf)
#then use dtf to plot

This is #day51 of my #100dayprojects on data science and visual storytelling. Full code on my github. Thanks for reading. Suggestions of new topics and feedbacks are always welcomed.
