It’s Not About Race!
John Metta

“[E]verything a person of color does is done while knowing they are not part of normative white culture.” Can we put this on billboards all over the country? I’m Asian, not black, but race lingers in the back of my mind in almost every day-to-day interaction. “Am I being treated this way because of what I look like?” “Are white people going to judge all Asians based on how I’m acting?” “Should I calibrate my actions based on the preconceptions I know white people have of me?” These are questions white people literally never have to think about, and it’s why everything literally is about race. Thank you for such an eloquent post.
