Where’s Tarrytown?
Day 10 | EF New York
No early class today. I’m not quite sure how I should feel about that. If you only have morning class, you can do something in the afternoon. If you do have afternoon class you can either do nothing but chilling in the afternoon/evening or go to town, but that’s going to be late.
Anyway. I went to breakfast at about 8:30am, so actually early. Afterwards, we wanted to go to play badminton at 10am, but the badmiton-service opens at 12pm as we saw when we got there. Well and because the others had class by then, we couldn’t go. Sad. But maybe another time.
I thought about how I should spend those 3 hours, because like everyone I knew had class by then. Therefore, I decided to start writing my postcards. After like 2 hours of writing and also talking with others, I eventually finished with them. I’m pretty happy with them. Yay.
Afterwards, I had to go to class. It was an iPad class and therefore, just doing some excercises on an iPad and afterwards watching TED talks. Thats basically it. This lesson was followed by an ordinary class lesson.
At 5pm, some of us decided to go to the Palisades Mall, which is across the Hudson River right on the other side. And because I actually had one more class today, I thought that because it’s an iLab-class, I would rather go to that Mall than to class. So I skipped it. I know I’m a bad person and we shouldn’t skip class, but shouldn’t you, if you’re sure you’ll be mad about choosing the “common way” — by going to class, just take the other way? At least I did so and I’m happy with my decision.
So we went to the Mall. We (4 people) did so by sharing a taxi with 5 other students. It was not that expensive, we paid 5$ each for the ride of about 20 minutes. Then we had like 4 hours to fulfill our clothing needs. And it was huge! So many stores in there, thats amazing.
We went to Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, H&M, Forever 21, and a lot of other stores. A lot. And the time was over super fast, like everytime when you have to be super focused to find the clothes of your dream (or so.). Yay. And I bought no shirt today! What a sensation. Just a sweater, some jogging pants and socks. Not that many items of clothing, although it was fun.
As I mentioned before, those 4 hours went over super fast and we then met out side with the others who went to the Mall. On the look out for a taxi, there was this one taxi arriving, looking super scarry and a bit old?. Inside, there was this guy who looked like he has never been there. Anyway. After someone went to him and asked how much is it, we then decided to take this one because there was no other around.
It wasn’t less scarry when we were inside, because this guy haven’t got a clue where Tarrytown was? Whats wrong with him! Really? Anyway, we gave him the adress and he drove us there. We also had to pay for the toll, because he obviously got no licence/card for that one. Eventually, after beeing a bit confused and scared, we made it onto the Campus and paid him his 30$ (all together). We discussed if he could drop Rocio and at the train station to grab some food, but we then let it be because it would have been probably too difficult for him to manage. Hahaha.
As I said we were hungry, we were obviously still hungry when we got to the campus. Therefore, Rocio and I decided to walk down to the train station to grab something from McDonalds. We were at McDonalds at about 11.05pm and we were upset because the closing hour is at 11pm. Oh man. And ofcourse, there was no exception for us. So we tried to ask if we can get something with the drive-thru, because this is open 24hours! I better don’t ask why. Anyway. We went there and this super unfriendly woman almost shouted at us that it’s way to dangerous to sell us something without a car, we have to take a taxi and come back. A TAXI? Wait a second.. what? There was no car at all and it probably would have been super fine, but no.
So, we went to the pharma-store next to it, which is open until midnight. But we weren’t able to buy something delicious to eat there, only something to drink. So we eventually ended up in 7Eleven, as always. There we bought a whole pizza, which was super huge — to huge. We weren’t able to finish it, even with all the hungriness we had in our bodies.
We headed with our full bellies back to the campus where I went to my room to go to sleep, because it was already 1am and on the next day there was a progress test scheduled, so I thought I’d better sleep a bit.
Well so, thats it for today! See you tomorrow!
