Draymond’s Issue

Draymond Green has a very serious ejection problem. It has gotten to the point where you have to assume he actually enjoys getting ejected. As if he has some sort of incentive in his $100,000,000 contract that states: In the event of the Participant’s ejection from a basketball game, the Participant shall be entitled to engage in a social interaction with LeBron James.

If you aren’t aware of what exactly I’m referring to, on Tuesday night, December 12, The Golden State Warriors were facing off against The Phoenix Suns, and Draymond Green was ejected from the game for striking Jusuf Nurkic in the face. Now you may be thinking, “How bad could it have been? Accidents happen all the time.” Well, it’s probably one of those things you should want to see for yourself.

Regardless if it was an accident, Draymond punched Jusuf Nurkic in the face which directly led to him getting ejected. That is his third ejection this season. Just to put these three ejections in 15 games into better perspective for you guys, I created this little graphic.

Draymond Green’s Ejections THIS SEASON in comparison to Curry, Thompson, and James’ career.

Draymond’s teammate, Stephen Curry, who has been in the NBA for 15 seasons and has played in over 900 games has 3 career ejections. The same amount that Draymond has this season alone.

Draymond’s other teammate, Klay Thompson, who has been in the NBA for 11 seasons and has played in over 700 games has only 2 career ejections. That is less than the amount Draymond has gotten in 15 games this season.

Lastly, Draymond’s best friend and idol, LeBron James, who has been in the NBA for 100 seasons and has played over a million games only has 2 career ejections. Draymond Green is quite literally putting up Wilt Chamberlain-level numbers in terms of getting thrown out of games.

Suspension

Now obviously, Draymond’s antics and behavior have led to the discussion on whether or not he deserved to be suspended, again. Yes, Draymond has already been suspended this season for putting Rudy Gobert in a headlock and making him tap out. Jay Williams believes that Draymond deserves to be suspended for 15–20 games, and considering the fact that he hit Nurkic with the Adonis Creed combo, I think that’s a pretty fair amount. I mean Ja Morant hasn’t played a single game this season for flashing a gun on Instagram Live, who even knows what’s a fair suspension anymore?

The NBA did suspend Draymond indefinitely and stated that he has to receive counseling and work alongside not only the Warriors but also the NBA before making his return. Now I’m not one to poke fun at individuals suffering from mental health issues, but the NBA is making it seem like Draymond belongs in a mental asylum. You have players like Kevin Durant saying, “I hope Draymond gets the help he needs… He hasn’t been that way when I was around him.” and even Rudy Gobert said, “I have empathy for him. You see somebody that’s not well inside and suffering… You want somebody to be well and be able to do what we do every night and compete and be happy.” It’s hilarious that they’re acting like Draymond is a lunatic-psychiatric patient. This entire thing feels like an episode of The Boondocks.

The Warriors Are Cooked

What exactly does this mean for the Warriors? Well, regardless of how you feel about Draymond Green, we all know he can contribute and help the Warriors win… most of the time. The Warriors currently have a losing record (12–14) and to be frank, are playing terribly. Despite Stephen Curry averaging 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists on 65% true shooting, the Warriors are playing like one of the worst teams in the league. It doesn’t help that Klay Thompson is playing worse than Max Strus (statistically), Andrew Wiggins is getting benched, Gary Payton II is out for the foreseeable future, and Steph’s second option is legitimately a 20-year-old rookie in Brandin Podziemski. Draymond Green’s suspension is just adding fuel to this absolute dumpster fire, and if things don’t start aligning, the Warriors’ ship could be sinking right in front of our very eyes.
