Non-profits have become more socially interactive compared to the past. Weather is cultivating a dedicated Facebook account or interacting with the followers on Instagram, non-profit organizations have never backed down.

According to an article published by Hubspot Fundraising, Brand Mention & News updates are the top priority goals for non-profit organizations to use Social Media. While some big & medium scale non-profits are raising funds through their Social Media approach, most of the smaller nonprofit’s are not able to make their social media presence because of their inappropriate approach.

Here are 5 Social Media Approaches to engage donors:

Making your Social Media Presence:

It is important for any organization to create its presence online before approaching donors. For creating a presence a non-profit organization needs to initially select a platform for approaching donors. There are numerous platforms to select from but Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter & Instagram are the largest platforms, to begin with.

What is your strategy:

It is really important to establish your strategy and goals for each platform. Below are a set of things you need to ask yourself to start with:

  1. Who is your target audience?
  2. What is your target location?
  3. What will you be posting on your social media channels?
  4. how often will you be posting and who will be managing the account?
  5. what will be your strategy for approaching donors?
  6. what will be your advertisement budget and strategy?

Once you have answers for these above questions you can move forward with social media.

Creating your presence:

Don't just post, tell your story to your audience and the impact you made in people’s life. Tell them about the challenges faced by your organizations and the outcome of those challenges. Show them how your organization has been impacting lives through its work, as this is what makes them follow and connect with you.

Building Relationship:

Your presence on social doesn't matter until and unless you have built a relation and trust with your connections. It is very important to build a healthy relationship with your connections, so try to be interactive and engage as much as you can with your audience in order to strengthen your relationship.

Fundraising:

Apart from raising funds directly, I recommend that an online store can be more helpful. You can set up your online store on your social media account through which you can influence your audience to purchase products from your store, rather than only asking them for donations will be a much more positive approach for raising funds as it will create a more positive impact on your audience.
