CitiOS is working to have a future where we can feel secure and productive in our respective communities always. One of its key features is Edge Computing and AI Chip embedded. The combination of Edge Computing and NM500 AI Chips not only makes relaying of data from the Internet of Things (IoT) devices to Edge faster but is also cheaper. Generated data of sensors are transferred through the latest LoRa-Private protocol.
Edge Computing
Edge Computing is when you generate, collect and analyze data near the source of data or at the source of data instead of depending on the cloud at one of a dozen centers to do all the work. Edge computing is used in most situations to help human beings. For instance, it is used in healthcare to collect data from connected medical (IoT) and medical monitoring devices in real-time which is in turn used to make an accurate diagnosis of ailments in hospitals or care centers.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI), has become the key driver for the adoption of edge computing. Originally, storage, local compute and processing capabilities were delivered by the Edge Computing layer to the Internet of Things (IoT) deployments. Data that is deemed too sensitive to be sent to the cloud for processing and analysis is handled by the Edge. And it also reduces the lag time involved in the roundtrip to the cloud. For fast response time and less lag time, a lot of the business logic that runs in the cloud is moving to the Edge. After aggregating and filtering data at the Edge, only a small amount of data generated by sensors is sent to the cloud. This significantly saves bandwidth and cloud storage costs for businesses.
As most of the decision making is now taking advantage of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Edge is becoming the perfect destination for deploying machine learning models trained in the cloud. Purpose-built accelerators that significantly speed up model referencing are used to bridge the gap between the data center and Edge.
NM500 AI Chips
NM500 is a neuromorphic chip with 576 interconnected neurons opening new frontiers for smart sensors and cognitive computing applications. These neurons work in parallel and are capable of learning and recognizing patterns in a few microseconds. They are especially suitable to cope with ill-defined and fuzzy data, the high variability of context and even novelty detection.
LoRa-Private Protocol
This is a long-range wireless communication protocol that competes against other low power wide area network. It allows for communication between two points over long distances.
With the increasingly fast pace world that we are living in, the need for information to be passed on at high speeds and the need to feel more secure increases. The combination of Edge Computing and AI Chip embedding provides for both these needs. Streetlights projects set up by cities can pick up things like fast-moving vehicles or a crime happening at a certain location, notifying the fire department in case of a fire outbreak and relay these messages instantly to the relevant authorities and the response time would be absolutely fast to rescue the situation at hand. The CitiOS model doesn’t only produce fast results, it also ensures the security of sensitive information so that people feel secure in knowing that they have access to services and amenities but also that their personal information is safe and secure.
