STARTING OUT THE NEW PHASE OF LIFE IN IIIT DELHI
I entered the big gate of IIIT Delhi first time and it was a dream to be a part of such a great institution. I joined this college on 30 July but unfortunately, I missed my induction program. As a hosteller, I was thinking about ragging (“3 Idiots” was running in my mind at that time). But there was no ragging either in the hostel or in the college campus. I was also thinking about curfew timings, attendance(in hostel), but thank god IIIT Delhi doesn’t have such rules imposed on the students. Finally, I went to my room that day with all my luggage.
In my very first lecture (so boring) every professor was talking about their course policies. All had complex grading policies but one thing was common in them “Plagiarism”. IIIT D is very strict about plagiarism. Even some of the professors give straight “F” grade if you get caught. By the way, the first day of college was pretty fine. Canteen is available for students 24*7 and generally, almost all the students chill in the canteen. Coming to academics the college gives us many deadlines and assignments to complete, which is never-ending. There is a quiz almost every week, which makes the schedule of a student of this institution quite hectic.
There are a bit of clubs in the college which remain mostly inactive due to study pressure. Saturdays and Sundays are a bit of relief to the students. Food in mess isn’t great. There is a TT room in which there are 2 table tennis tables, two pool tables. Fortunately, all buildings including hostel are AC and Wifi connected (life of every student:).It has two boys hostel and two girls hostel (old and new) and 60 percent of its students can accommodate hostel.
In terms of infrastructure, IIIT Delhi is one of the best colleges and all professors are well educated, knowledgeable and quite friendly with all the students. Professors are regular to their lectures which is a quite different thing from another college. Overall It has been a good experience, we are getting new things to learn.
