Thank you for writing this Umair. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all of it. I simultaneously feel comfort in how validating it is and fear that hearing it out loud will only make living it more unbearable.

It reminds me of a hiking trip I recently coordinated for a small group of friends. Somehow most of the hike was spent talking about different struggles (failed intimacy, draining jobs, abusive relationships, aimlessness) but the root was always the same: the sensation of being trapped in an economic, social, and political paradigm that can’t be fixed.

And the conclusion was always this sort of unsatisfying fade in the conversation. It’s like we try to find solace with each other and then retreat to keep mourning, just as you say.
