Realistic cinema can be portrayed more accurately with the use of emphasis on depth of field and motion of the camera. Though not all the features of a visual field are looked into and analyzed, it is similar to reality. The human eye is able to see depth and different levels of the scene that is visible. A montage is a technique in film editing in which a series of short shots are edited into a sequence to condense space, time, and information. A montage does not simulate a realistic sense of cinema in the fact that short clips, presumably those that are most entertaining or interesting, are shown and the information in between the clips is not represented and is simply assumed. There are gaps in a montage that do not occur in real life. Personally, I don’t think that there should be any confusion between film and life whether there exists depth in visual art or not. Though there are situations in films that relate or are very similar to a person’s life, the distinction of whether a film’s content is physically possible to occur is obvious. Many things are over exaggerated; others are simply unrealistic.
