Mere months after a couple’s murder in a remote area of Washington, another family found a tragic end at the hands of a suspected serial killer. This is the case of Mike Riemer and his girlfriend Diana Robertson.

History of Domestic Violence

At the time of their disappearance, Michael “Mike” Riemer and Diana Robertson lived with their two-year-old daughter in Tacoma, Washington.

The couple met each other four years prior, when she was 17 and he was 32. Mike had been in the animal trapping industry for several years, but mainly earned his income as a roofer.

However, not everything seemed as great between the two. In October 1985, two months before they would vanish, Mike was charged with domestic assault.

Diana alleged that he kicked in her apartment door and threw her to the floor, then rubbed her face against a carpet. She had visible marks on her nose and left eye from the attack, and the case was temporarily settled with a restraining order in place, which Mike and Diana ignored to reconcile by December.
