Dismembered Body Parts Flowing With the Current: Who Killed Oak Grove Jane Doe?
Over the course of 1946, the dismembered remains of a woman were discovered in the Willamette River in Oak Grove, Oregon. To this day, nobody knows who she was or who killed her. Let’s take a look at this gruesome and puzzling case.
April 12, 1946, south of Portland, Oregon
Night settled in. It was already 8PM by the time three friends, James and Mary Rader, and H.C. Foster, went on a walk near the Wisdom Island moorage along the Willamette River. Temperatures dropped as it got later in the day, and perhaps the three were eager to get home soon.
But this quiet stroll would take an awfully different turn. Near the edge of the water on the east bank, they discovered a strange burlap sack tied up with rope and wire. The overwhelming smell of death emerged from it.
The three were concerned, thinking somebody might have drowned a litter of unwanted kittens, and hurried to check it out. What they found was even worse than dead cats — it was a human torso.
