Today is another exercise in killing the cynic.
The cynic is the voice within you that says no to everything. It’s the mental preclusion of life. It is “no” to the world. The cynic sneers at bad, gripes at mediocre, until left shrugging at good, without voicing alternatives.
You must kill the cynic within you.
Kill the cynic, so you can see the light. Kill the cynic, so that you have room for positive as your natural state of thought and feeling.
If you want a chance at improving the world, you must kill the cynic.

…
Today I chose to put myself smack in the middle of the solar eclipse path, with no regard for the “ughs” that have become the obligatory cultural norm. I said to hell with the potential traffic. Even if I end up shoulder-to-shoulder with smelly strangers in a 200 acre park, I’m going to enjoy the alignment of my corner of the universe.
I feel sorry for the groaning Columbians, lamenting the plight of another jam-packed set of city streets. THERE’S A RARE-ISH COSMIC EVENT HAPPENING! FIND SOMETHING TO LIKE ABOUT IT.
And truly, the eclipse is not the point. Shrug it off if you want. Some of you are going to do meaningful work all day. (I’m going to use the event as writing inspiration.) The point is about being open to the universe.
Kill your inner cynic, you might start seeing the light behind the darkness.
