Thanks for your excellent and succinct article. And bless you for being able to recognize the broader truth; it can be so hard to break out of what’s been learned through your upbringing and environment. It’s a hard path becoming our own person and moving away from what our parents and culture taught us as children, but as we grow older we also begin to realize that there’s a much larger world out there, and that we have both our own identity within it and an important part to play.
Keep sharing your story and working to bring an end to racism and bigotry everywhere. Yes, one statue might not make a huge difference, but even a small difference matters a great deal.
